America – Salesian Vocational Training Centers plan for the future

21 September 2022

(ANS) - On Sept. 15, a meeting of the heads of the Vocational Training Centers (VTCs) of the Salesian network of America was held digitally. The meeting was attended by more than 20 representatives from provinces of the continent, who reflected on the strategic plan they are developing and aspects of the network's vision and mission.

On this occasion, the sector's contact person within the Youth Ministry, Fr. Claudio Cartes, shared the document, "Don Bosco's Salesians on the Road to a Sustainable World in the Light of Integral Ecology," which, covering the various dimensions of the Salesian pastoral educational project, offers itself as a positioning document of the Congregation on the theme of integral ecology. The publication aims to promote reflection on the meaning of integral ecology and to encourage the various Salesian presences in the world to continue working for a true and effective ecological conversion.

The members of the network's animating team then went on to discuss the steps of strategic planning for the coming years, which includes the processes of receiving and disseminating the generated identity documents, as well as issues related to the organization of the network itself.

At the same time, participants also discussed the importance of integrating educators and network partners into the process going forward, as well as learning from the experiences of other continents in networking in such a relevant environment as vocational training and preparation for the world of work in a sociocultural context where youth employability is so important.

The meeting also set the schedule for upcoming meetings, with digital meetings scheduled for November 16, 2022, and April 12, 2023, and with the first in-person meeting expected in October 2023.
