Spain – Rome's Youth Ministry Sector and Salesian National Center of Spain reflect together in Madrid

21 November 2022

(ANS - Madrid) - Members of the Rome Youth Ministry Sector team, led by General Councilor Fr. Miguel Ángel García Morcuende, gathered in Madrid on Nov. 16 and 17. The meeting was part of the process of seeking synergies that the Youth Ministry (YM) Sector has undertaken with the Congregation's National YM Centers. In this case, the point of reference was the Salesian National YM Center in Madrid (CNSPJ, in Spanish), one of the important centers for reflection and coordination of youth ministry in Europe, serving Salesian Spain and the Congregation itself. Thus, the meeting was also attended by members of the CNSPJ Coordination with its director, Fr. José Miguel Núñez.

During these two days, both teams had the opportunity to reflect on evangelization and the First Announcement as one of the great challenges of Salesian youth ministry in the context of a "weary Europe," as one of the reflections presented by the Sector team put it. The CNSPJ also presented a reflection on "evangelization as a complex mediation of the Church's missionary action in today's world." CNSPJ members also shared the ongoing renewal process and their working methodology.

In the context of the meeting, Fr. García Morcuende also explained all the ongoing processes that are currently being encouraged by the youth ministry sector team, worldwide. The meeting was an opportunity to get to know each other, reflect and live together. Ultimately, it was a meeting that marks the path of an ever-closer collaboration between Madrid and Rome, in the sign of communion and shared service to young people in the Pastoral Ministry of Salesian Spain and the Congregation.
