RMG – Salesian Advisory Board Moves Forward with Strategic Plan to Promote Salesian Mission Volunteering

23 March 2023

(ANS – Rome) – The Salesian Advisory Board at the world level is making strides in promoting Salesian Mission Volunteering within the Salesian Congregation. Over a year ago, the Advisory Board met in Valdocco to create a strategic plan with the objective of promoting SMV at the congregation level. This plan has four main goals: developing spaces where collaboration can happen, providing formation, and accompanying the different stakeholders while effectively promoting SMV as an advisory board.

The SMV Advisory Board has been working on two main projects following the strategic plan. The first project is the creation of a missionary volunteer cross for all the Salesian Missionary Volunteers. Some of the most creative designers have designed this cross, and the Salesian Advisory Board is excited to unveil the end product soon!

The second project is to create the first worldwide meeting for people in charge of the volunteer program. The SMV Advisory Board is hoping to hold this meeting next year, and once the dates are finalized, they will be shared with the Congregation.

The Salesian Missionary Volunteering is a vital part of the Salesian Congregation, providing opportunities for individuals to participate in the mission of Don Bosco and serve those in need. With the strategic plan in place, the Advisory Board is committed to promoting the SMV and creating a supportive environment for volunteers and stakeholders.

“We are encouraged to see the progress made and are grateful to those working tirelessly to promote the missionary volunteer program in our congregation. We ask that you keep the SMV Advisory Board in your prayers as we continue to work towards their objectives and promote the Salesian mission of service and love” the Salesian Advisory Board finally states.
