03 May 2023

(ANS – Wrocław) – Six European schools from Hungary, Spain, Cyprus, France, Italy and Poland met at the Salesian School  "Don Bosco" in Wrocław as part of the Erasmus+ project: FOREST AS NATURAL EUROPEAN HERITAGE.

"What is happening in the world clearly shows that we should - by educating young people - make them feel like citizens of the world, being Poles. As Poles, we have a lot to offer, to share, and certainly those who reach us learn a lot from us. Salez becomes the ambassador of Wrocław in Europe and the world, he conveys Christian values to Europe", emphasizes the director of the school, Fr. Jerzy Babiak.

"Through this project, students developed key competences: social, communicating in foreign languages, entrepreneurship. We managed to promote Christian values in the world" says Magdalena Szewczyk, project coordinator.

"The Salesian High School is actively involved in Erasmus projects and gives young people the opportunity to go to different European countries and to welcome European guests at home. – For young people from Salez, it is an incredible opportunity to enter into a direct, lively relationship with a colleague from another European country. This living relationship is the most valuable - it shows that in a divided world, where new borders between nations, religions and cultures are constantly emerging, it is possible to build friendship between divisions. This is the key value that we care about, for which we spare no time and energy. This will certainly bear fruit in the future - we want to have citizens who are open, kind and ready to cooperate. Who will also speak foreign languages well - such projects are a very good test of skills" Fr. Babiak adds.

"Schools from Cyprus, Spain, France, Italy and Hungary came to Wrocław as the culmination of the three-year project "Seeds without borders - Forest as European natural heritage". – As the school that is the author and leader of this project, we invited five European schools, our partners. In Wrocław, we will sum up our project, there will be a lot of good things going on for three days" emphasizes the priest.

After the official welcome, nearly 100 young guests visited the Wrocław Town Hall , plans for the next few days also include a trip to Szczeliniec and the Basilica in Wambierzyce, as well as a visit to the Książ Castle.
