Spain – The Pinardi and Quiero Trabajo Foundations bring 100 young people together with 50 managers from important companies to improve the employability of young people

01 June 2023

(ANS – Madrid) – The day for improvement of youth employability, which took place on 25 May at the Meliá Princesa Hotel in Madrid, brought together 100 young people in search of their first work experience, along withmanagers and human resources officials of important companies, establishing a valuable contact for both parties. The day took place within the framework of the project for improvement of youth employability and the  Primera Experiencia Profesional (First Professional Experience), promoted by the Pinardi Federation of Salesian Social Platforms and the Autonomous Community of Madrid, in collaboration with the Quiero Trabajo (I Want to Work) Foundation. The event has the financial backing of the Ministry for Inclusion, Social Security and Migration and the European Union's Next Generation program, through the National Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

“First Professional Experience” is a new way of tackling the problem of youth unemployment. It is a training experience that allows personal development and professional discovery alongside Pinardi’s  and large companies’ education teams, in order to increase the employability and social and work integration of young people, maintaining their active role in the process as well as the companies.

On this occasion, the Pinardi and the Quiero Trabajo Foundations joined forces to create a day for youth employability in which 100 young people and 50 mentors from leading companies took part. The fundamental objective was to allow young people to learn first-hand about the experiences of mentors and receive guidance and advice from them to improve their skills and job opportunities.

The event, which took place thanks to the collaboration of Meliá Hotels at the Meliá-Princesa in Madrid, included four rooms for presentations. The 100 young participants were divided into groups of 25, together with their respective speakers, all company executives. During the presentations, specific topics were addressed related to the world of work and vocational training.

Subsequently, the day also provided a room for one-on-one meetings in which individual mentoring took place among young people and mentors from the reference companies. This room could hold 40 people, with 20 separate tables to ensure the confidentiality and comfort of the participants during the tutoring sessions.

It is important to stress that this day dedicated to the employability of young people was attended by leading companies in their respective sectors: Stellantis, Peugeot Citroën Group, Page Personnel, Acciona, Securitas Direct, Aq Acenture, Ouigo, Grupo Tendam, Edpyn.

This meant an event of top quality and relevance for the young participants. The presence of these companies allows young people to deal with the world of work in a more realistic, close-up fashion, and offers them the opportunity to see how companies have confidence in them and in their potential for professional development.

Likewise, the involvement of these reference companies has allowed young people to gain firsthand knowledge of the needs and demands of the current labour market, which will help them to better guide their training and preparation for the future.

Overall, it was an enriching day for both young people and participating companies, who were able to establish valuable contacts and contribute to the training of the next generation of professionals.

Since Pinardi and the Autonomous Community of Madrid launched their “First Professional Experience” in October, 286 young people have already begun work, and almost 200 are continuing their training process and will have the opportunity to discover their calling through training in real work environments in companies.
