31 October 2024

(ANS – Mestre) – The Centro Nazionale Opere Salesiane – Formazione e Aggiornamento Professionale (CNOS-FAP) Foundation, together with the Schneider Electric Foundation and Schneider Electric Italia, announced, on the occasion of the national meeting of the Electrical and Energy sectors of the CNOS-FAP ETS Foundation, held on 30 October 2024 at the Salesian headquarters in Mestre, the start of a new five-year project (2024-2028) aimed at enhancing scientific, technical, engineering and mathematical (STEM) and technical-professional skills in the electrical/electronic and energy sectors.

The main objective is to attract young people, especially girls, to vocational training, reducing early school leaving and providing practical and theoretical tools to prepare for the world of work.

The project includes co-financing between the two entities: CNOS-FAP will provide human resources, while Schneider Electric will provide an economic contribution for educational equipment. In total, 36 Vocational Training Centres (VET Centres) throughout Italy will benefit from educational kits and advanced technologies, including cases on industrial automation, 3D plastics for Industry 4.0 and Smart Home, enriched by augmented reality software to offer students an immersive practical experience.

"Our Salesian mission" said Fr Giuliano Giacomazzi, General Director of the CNOS-FAP ETS Foundation "has always been to offer young people quality training, capable of preparing them for the challenges of the contemporary world and promoting the dignity of work. Thanks to the contribution of Schneider Electric and its Foundation, we will be able to enhance the skills of our students in the field of sustainable energy, intelligent technologies and digital transformation.

"The beneficiaries of the project will include 5,500 students of the three-year and four-year courses and 100 educators. The activities will be supported by CNOS-FAP staff, Schneider Electric volunteers, and the "Mondo Scuola Lavoro" partner, thus guaranteeing synergy between education and the industrial world.

"To face the challenges of sustainability, the energy and digital transition" commented Davide Zardo, CEO of Schneider Electric for Italy, "new forces and skills are needed. It is therefore necessary to invest in young people to prepare them for future challenges. We need different intelligences, vocations and skills, and if we want to make growth inclusive we need to make sure we leave no one behind."

During the 5 years, courses will be organised for Salesian formators, aiming at a gradula improvement of their technical skills. In addition, orientation activities will be carried out for over 3,300 students in first and second grade high schools, in order to encourage the choice of technical and vocational training courses.
