Born on November 5, 1959, in Burguillos, Spain, Fr. Pérez Godoy began his Salesian journey with his first profession on September 8, 1978, followed by his perpetual vows on August 15, 1984. He was ordained as a priest on June 5, 1987. His academic achievements include a Licentiate in Ecclesiastical Sciences and a Master’s in Youth Ministry and Catechetics, complemented by specialized studies in theology, catechetics, and education.
Over the years, Fr. Pérez Godoy has held numerous key leadership positions within the Salesian Congregation. He has served as Provincial Councillor, Vice Provincial, and Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry. He has also been the Rector of the Catechetical Study Centre, Director of Escuela de Tiempo Libre Don Bosco in Andalucía, and Provincial of the Seville Province (2000–2006). From 2014 to 2020, he led the Spain-St James Major (SSM) Province with distinction.
Beyond his roles within the Salesian Congregation, Fr. Pérez Godoy has made significant contributions on a broader scale. He served as President of Catholic Schools of Andalucía (2002–2006) and National President of Catholic Schools of Spain (2015–2020), showcasing his commitment to Catholic education and its influence on young people.
Fluent in Spanish, Italian, French, and Portuguese, Fr. Pérez Godoy brings a rich multicultural perspective to his leadership. His reappointment as Regional Councillor for the Mediterranean Region underscores the trust placed in his vision and expertise.
