The signing of the agreement takes place this afternoon 11 May, at the Sacro Cuore Salesian Institute, historically the first work in Rome founded by Don Bosco.
The beneficiaries will be countries that differ greatly, in Africa, Asia, Haiti and in the south of Italy, and local contexts that have the common goal of generating sustainable development by creating opportunities for social advancement for the disadvantaged young people involved.
In Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a project will be started in the Ngagi Professional Training Centre, with theoretical and practical learning activities for the most disadvantaged students, along with work placement and installation of solar panels to generate electricity for the whole structure.
At Pingull Kudal in India, the equipment in the laboratory of the local Professional Training Centre will be updated, offering students the opportunity to work in more modern facilities.
On the island of Haiti, there will be training courses for teachers, new equipment for laboratories, technical materials for students and a new system of electricity supply.
In Maputo, Mozambique, purchases of new equipment and materials for students are planned, and an energy update programme will be set up for teachers and students.
Finally, in Southern Italy, apprenticeship courses in the subjects of innovation 4.0 will be set up, covering electricity, electronics and renewable energies.
Collaboration between the Salesians and Schneider Electric, a company distinguished in the production of solutions and technologies for energy and electricity distribution, started some 16 years ago. It was agreed in the contract between CNOS-FAP (National Centre of Salesian Works - Professional Training and Upgrading) and the French company, and is now strengthened by this new agreement.
The General Director of CNOS-FAP, Fr Luigi Enrico Peretti, says: “Our collaboration with Schneider Electric is very strong because it is based on common principles and anthropological perspectives."
