22 May 2017

(ANS - Rome) - As usual on May 24, the feast of Mary Help of Christians, every year draws in Turin Valdocco the attention of several thousands of pilgrims devoted to the “Don Bosco’s Virgin”, together with various personalities of the Salesian Family. Many events are scheduled, from the more traditional ones, such as numerous celebrations and the popular processions on May 24th, up to very special events, such as the annual meeting of the World Consultative Body of the Salesian Family, which starts just today, Monday, 22 May.

he main celebrations start already tomorrow evening, Tuesday, May 23, with a prayer vigil; Fr Marek Chrzan, the Rector of the Salesian Community at “Crocetta”, will preside over the liturgy, which will end after midnight with the Mass chaired by Fr Giuliano Palizzi, the Rector of the Salesian Community of Borgomanero.

Therefore, on Wednesday 24 May, there will be:

• at 11.00 (GMT + 2), the solemn Eucharistic con-celebration presided over by Monsignor Cesare Nosiglia, the archbishop of Turin and animated by the Basilica's choir.

• at 6.30 pm, the solemn con-celebration, presided over by Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, and animated by the Choir of the Valdocco Oratory.

• and at 8.30 pm the program will end with the solemn procession of the statue of Mary Help of Christians through the streets of Turin, presided over by Monsignor Nosiglia.

All of these celebrations will be visible all over the world thanks to the live streaming on the website www.missionidonbosco.org and on www.sdb.org and via satellite on Telepace HD (Sky Channel 515).

In addition, by taking advantage of the presence of many representatives of the Salesian Family being already in Turin for the 100th anniversary of the Volunteers of Don Bosco, this year the meeting of the World Consultative Body of the Salesian Family takes place just in the days besides the Feast of Mary Help of Christians.

The event - besides being a unique moment for knowledge, fraternity and spiritualties shared among the various leaders of the different groups - addresses some of these specific issues of common interest, such as: the forthcoming Synod of Bishops on the theme “ Youth, faith and vocational discernment”; the development of a collective web site; the evaluation of the Days of Spirituality of the Salesian Family; the progress of the causes of beatification and canonization in the Salesian Family; and communications of projects and proposals of mutual interest.
