Italy - Renewal of UPS Communication and Development Office

06 September 2017

(ANS - Rome) – As of September 1, the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) has renewed itself and started its activities with a new Office for Communications and Development, an office that now incorporates the services previously offered by the Press Office and the Office for Development and Public Relations.  Mr. Massimo Ilardo was appointed the Director of the new Communications and Development Office.

The task of the new Office is to organize institutional communications and to promote the University in the areas of public relations, development and projects in an increasingly integrated and effective way, a continuation of the work previously carried out by past directors.

In formulating his most cordial wishes of success to Dr. Ilardo, Rector Fr Mauro Mantovani highlighted the importance of this goal as outlined in the Institutional and Strategic Project of UPS for 2016-2021. The Office represents, indeed, a point of convergence wherein many of the skills already present in the University, among professors and collaborators, can provide an important and indispensable contribution, starting naturally from the Faculty of Social Communication Sciences.

Massimo Ilardo, layman, was born in Rome on June 26, 1957, and is married with two children. After Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies, he studied Communications at the Pontifical Gregorian University (CISC). He has worked as a consultant in Communications and Fundraising, with particular skills in creative communication and training. He has been coordinator and project manager of numerous institutional communications projects, and from 2008 to 2015 was the General Director of the Italian office of the Pontifical Foundation "Aiuto alla Chiesa che Soffre."
