RMG - 36th Salesian Family Day in Turin: first time in Don Bosco's house

05 January 2018

(ANS - Rome) - The 36th Salesian Family Day will begin in a few days. Fr Eusebio Munoz, Secretary of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family and responsible for the Salesian Family Day (GFS -2018), has been working for several months in the mother house of the Salesian Congregation in Valdocco to organize an event that brings together hundreds of people from all over the world. The work focusses on Strenna 2018, recently presented by Fr Ángel Fernández Artime: "Cultivating the art of listening and accompanying." It explores and discusses the biblical text, "Lord, give me this water" (Jn 4:15).

The 36th Salesian Family Day begins a new chapter in Valdocco, the site where Don Bosco gave the first message to his Salesian sons; over time, it assumed the name "Strenna". For over a hundred years this message has been issued by the Rector Major, who studies, animates and directs the tradition: "A theme that completely touches the essence of our charism."

Scheduled in Turin - Valdocco from 18 to 21 January, the Day will be inaugurated by the Rector Major. Sister Paola Casalis, FMA, shall present the first paper: "Listening to the young", while Fr Juan Crespo, SDB, discusses the Strenna theme: "Discernment and decision in accompaniment." Turin's Archbishop Mons. Cesare Nosiglia shall preside at the solemn Mass.

The 36th Salesian Family Day will be broadcast live on the ANS Facebook page for the entire Salesian world at: www.facebook.com/agenziaans
