The main objective of the school exchange associations is to enhance the European dimension in the participating schools in order to strengthen their capacity for European cooperation and to deal with new challenges. In this way it also intends to promote the values of inclusion and tolerance.
The duration of these projects is between 12 and 24 months, and up to 36 months if it includes long-term mobility (exchanges) of secondary education students at least 14 years old at the time of mobility. Each project involves 2 to 6 schools and Spain is one of the leading countries in the fulfillment of this type of project, that is in second place and before Germany, France and Italy, for example.
Verónica Pastor, head of the Foreign Languages Department and Coordinator of the "Erasmus+" program at the "San Juan Bosco" school in Valencia, explains that the "Friends of Sustainable Food" project involves two Salesian institutes: Valencia and "Notre Dame des Minimes" school of Lyon: "It is an exchange of good practices for the promotion of the French language. For our school it is a great step forward in the promotion of multilingualism, not only of the first language, English, but also for the second language: French. Furthermore, the project promotes sustainability and, in particular, sustainable food, a commitment of both centers, which share projects for environmental protection."
With the same scheme of collaboration between two Salesian centers, the project "The Roman footprint in Pamplona and Parma" between the students of the Salesianos Pamplona and the Salesian school of Parma, is presented. "For the school it is a further element of quality in the internationalization process, and a step forward in the educational sphere of the European Union."
