Italy – Yamaha and Salesians together to give young people more opportunities

(ANS - Sesto San Giovanni) - Forming and training young people to enter the world of work in the automotive/motorsports-related field is a traditional activity of Salesian education. In this sense, the Vocational Training Center of the "Don Bosco Social Works" in Sesto San Giovanni, near Milan, is a prime example.

To offer young people a concrete opportunity to accessing the specific labour market related to engines, the Salesian structure has for years started important collaborations in the motor-related/automotive sector where students, once the cycle of studies is completed, may enter more easily.

Here, in this case, at the end of 2019, the Sesto San Giovanni institute invested further in the sector, namely in the field of motorcycles, by creating a specialization for the assistance and repair of two-wheeled vehicles thanks to a prestigious collaboration with the "Yamaha Technical School".

Specifically, the famous motorcycle company has undertaken to collaborate with CNOS – FAP, the body that coordinates Salesian Vocational Training in Italy, to qualify its tools and instrumental resources, such as laboratories, classrooms, technical equipment ... and to raise the professional, technological and operational skills of both its formators and students.

During the fourth year of study, the best students will be offered the opportunity to carry out training internships at the company itself and in the Yamaha Assistance Network so as to create and foster the conditions for their subsequent inclusion into the industry.

"We want to create professional technical figures trained with Yamaha standards and able to answer to a rapidly changing market, thanks to a path during which school and company work together" is the viewpoint of the Japanese company, expressed by the Yamaha Country Manager for Italy, Andrea Colombi.

For his part, Fr Elio Cesari, the center's Director, also observed: "The Don Bosco Social Works of Sesto is the largest Salesian school in Europe, and is characterized by the extremely high level of preparation of its students and is one of the few to have a specialization dedicated to two-wheeled vehicles. The collaboration with Yamaha thus becomes the possibility for our children to work with cutting-edge equipment and, at the same time, be able to live an educational experience also on a human level, thanks to the rapport, team work and sharing of a value system."

In short, after those started with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Cnh Industrial, Aci, and many other companies, the collaboration with Yamaha Motor Italia enriches the range of proposals by the Salesians aimed at young people for their inclusion in the world of work in the motor industry.
