(ANS - Madrid) - The Coordinator General of Pinardi, the Federation of Salesian Social Platforms in Madrid, Javier Doval, presented twenty proposals for the recovery and promotion of economic and social activities of the Madrid community, this during the Madrid Assembly on Friday 17 July. The proposals were submitted to the Study Commission.
(ANS - Bharoul) - The Don Bosco Community of Bharoul in eastern Nepal, where there are two Salesian schools, is conducting lessons for all 1,500 students, using 42 rented rooms, each called "community classroom". Each class is attended by 10 students at a time. All strictly follow government restrictions to counter the spread of COVID-19. The entire teaching staff, made up of 46 members, is fully involved in the program, which began on 16 July 2020 and is coordinated by the four members of the Salesian staff.
(ANS - Seoul) - A second film focusing on the life of Fr John Lee (1962-2010), a Korean Salesian missionary in South Sudan from 2001 to 2009, was released last January. It is a documentary directed by Ku Su Hwan, who ten years ago had already directed "Don't Cry Tonj". The film is produced by KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) in collaboration with the Salesian Province of Korea.
(ANS – Port Moresby) – Conrad Vamilat is a young Salesian in formation, originally from Papua New Guinea. The Covid-19 pandemic surprised him while he was in the Philippines and it delayed and made his return home more complex. But even the 14 days of quarantine he had to observe once he did return to his native soil were not useless: they were rather a sort of forced withdrawal, to reflect and bear witness.
