(ANS - Madrid) - According to data from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the number of internally displaced people is currently 70.8 million. People forced to flee their homes due to war, persecution because of their gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or political opinion, or because of the consequences of climate change. In Spain, requests for international protection continued to increase exponentially in 2019. In 2019, 118,264 asylum applications were received, according to data from the Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid (CEAR). However, only 3,156 were granted, equal to 5%, one in 20 applications.

"What did isolation mean for Covid-19 for vulnerable youth?" is the question that FRA asked itself. The response, thanks to the participation of "Don Bosco International" - which facilitated interaction with the FRA - led the European agency to highlight the good Salesian practices carried out in two of the countries most affected by coronavirus infections.
(ANS - Palabek) - In Uganda no Covid-19-related deaths have been recorded so far, although there are currently 696 confirmed cases of infection. "It's difficult to raise awareness among a population that has not yet personally witnessed the impact of a pandemic of this type," explain the Salesians active in the refugee camp of Palabek, which currently houses 56,000 people and is obviously a place at great risk.
