(ANS – Daejon) – After 10 years of Salesian novitiate experience in Naeri on the western seashore of South Korea, this stage of formation returned last January to the city of Daejon, where the novitiate was first opened in 1992. Today the Daejon community (Rector Fr Peter Choi kwang-seob), 6 Salesian priests and 4 novices (Novice director Fr Felix Wee won-seok) is entrusted with one group home (Don Bosco house), Salesian Youth Center and Novitiate formation. While the whole Salesian setting is surrounded by the beautiful green of trees and hills.

(ANS - Lisbon) - In recent weeks, with the increasing difficulties of many families due to the economic and social impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the number of requests for help reaching the Family Assistance Service “SolSal (Salesian Solidarity) of Lisbon has also increased. In the first week of restrictions, the number of families supported by "SolSal" increased by about 20%. Currently, there are around 110 families, for a total of 388 people, who receive support from various social operators. Of these, 94 families (85%), for a total of 359 people (92.5%), receive help with the supply of basic necessities.

(ANS - Uvira) - The city of Uvira, in the South Kivu Province, was hit by torrential rains on the night of 17-18 April, and caused enormous damage. Present in the city since 2002, the Salesians were also affected by the flood, due to the persistence of the rains of the following days: the water damaged several structures and workshops. The concern of the religious, however, is for the many needy people who need help.

(ANS - Bukavu) - The Covid-19 pandemic has been monopolizing media attention for months. Thus it happens that the other tragedies and calamities that continue to take place escape most. The Democratic Republic of the Congo, sadly, acts as a receptacle for many of them.

(ANS - Rome) - Two important processes had been entrusted by the 27th General Chapter (GC27) to the Rector Major to his Council. The results of the work done in the last four years of the previous six-year term were presented to the assembly of the GC28 in the form of two important documents approved by the Rector Major and his Council: “Animating & Governing the Community. The Ministry of the Salesian Rector”; “Young Salesians and accompaniment. Orientations and Guidelines.”

(ANS - Rome) - A passion that becomes an instrument of growth, and a path made of trust, which becomes a path of faith and donation: all this is present in the testimony of Chiara, a young volunteer of the Civil Service at the oratory of the work "Pius XI" in Rome.
