Huancayo, Peru - 1924 - This is one of the first photographs in the history of the Salesian St Rose Institute in Huancayo. You can see the first Rector of the Institute, Fr Camilo Cevallos, together with Blessed José Lasaga (who would die twelve years later during the Spanish Civil War) and a third Salesian. With them are also some catechism students. This and other historical images are available in the virtual photo exhibition entitled "Siglo incontrastable: 100 años de presencia salesiana en Huancayo", which can be viewed at the following link.

Spain – Campo-Bosco Mohernando in 1981

Mohernando, Spain – 1981 –There were about 400 young people who took part in the Campo-Bosco-100 in 1981, which was held in Mohernando (Guadalajara) and brought together the youth from the Salesian Provinces in Spain. During those days, the participants had the opportunity to reflect on Don Bosco and the evangelisation of the young. From the Camp-Bosco-100 originated what is known today in Spain as the National Campobosco.

San Jose, Costa Rica – In this old black and white photograph, the date of which is not precisely specified, we can see the facade of the Church of Mary Help of Christians in the city of San Jose, Costa Rica. In the image, published on the Flickr profile of the Salesian Bulletin of Central America, some worshippers can be seen just outside the church. Moreover, as it was taken from the outside, it also gives an overview of how the neighbourhood looked at the time.

Tokyo, Japan – In this old photograph we see a scene from everyday life at the Salesian Vocational School in Tokyo, where a teacher follows the learning of a pupil sitting at the linotype, a machine for composing lines of text in lead for subsequent printing. In 1935, the first printing and sewing courses were also established at this technical school. The Salesians arrived in Japan in 1926, settling in the facilities left by the missionaries of the Paris Foreign Missions: Miyazaki, Oita and Nakatsu. They immediately began pastoral work and set up schools and vocational training centres.
