Rome, Italy – April 2024 – The Mass of thanksgiving of the two new Salesian Archbishops was held on the morning of Sunday, 21 April at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Rome, presided over by Cardinal Ángel Artime Fernández and with the homily given by Archbishop Giordano Piccinotti. Numerous Salesian cardinals, bishops, members of the General Council, Salesians, representatives of the Salesian Family and special guests attended the celebration. For his part, the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr Stefano Martoglio, gave a warm welcome to the two new Salesian Archbishops, expressing his best wishes and his prayer, with the certainty that Don Bosco will accompany and bless these two of his sons in their mission.
Rome, Italy – April 2024 – The episcopal ordination of two eminent sons of Don Bosco, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation and Titular Archbishop-elect of Ursona, and Archbishop Giordano Piccinotti, Titular Archbishop of Gradisca and President of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See (APSA), took place in the afternoon of 20 April at the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major. Cardinal Emil Paul Tscherrig, Apostolic Nuncio Emeritus in Italy and the Republic of San Marino, conferred the Episcopal Ordinations, together with two Salesians as co-consecrators: Cardinal Cristóbal López Romero, Archbishop of Rabat, Morocco, and Bishop Lucas Van Looy, Bishop emeritus of Ghent, Belgium.
Campo Grande, Brazil - March 2024 - Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians, has returned to Brazil once again for an Animation Visit to the "Sant'Alfonso Maria de' Liguori" Province of Brazil-Campo Grande (BCG), coinciding with the celebration of 130 years of the presence of the Sons of Don Bosco in the territory. The 10th Successor of Don Bosco will spend a total of 10 days there, from Wednesday 6th to Friday 15th March 2024. A significant portion of his visit will be dedicated to the indigenous villages of Meruri, São Marcos, and Sangradouro, located in the State of Mato Grosso. In these villages, the Salesians provide accompaniment and assistance for the integral human development of the Boe-Bororo and Xavante populations.
Rome, Italy – February 2024 – "Called to Love with Hope. Salesian Strennas by FR ÁNGEL FERNÁNDEZ ARTIME, sdb" is a book that was presented on Thursday, 29 February 2024 at the Maria Santissima Bambina Institute (Via Paolo VI, Rome). It is a collection of the Strennas that Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, now Cardinal, has produced and disseminated in his 10 years at the head of the Salesian Congregation (2014-2024) and was edited by his Secretary and spokesperson, Fr Giuseppe Costa.
