(ANS - Córdoba) - The Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) of the Northern Argentina Province (ARN) takes on environmental issues as its own and proposes to work for the protection of the planet, "our Common Home".

Young people, in different historical periods, have often been among the most sensitive to social issues. Today the concern of many people revolves around the future of the Earth and, once again, young people are at the forefront of this new challenge: pioneers of sustainable habits aimed at significantly reducing the negative impact of man on Creation.

Faced with these challenges, and to participate in the concerns of young people, the Provincial Council of ARN has approved No. 13 of the new policies of its Provincial Organic Plan, relating precisely to the care of the "Common Home".

This decision undoubtedly favors and reinforces the path already taken by the Provincial Commission of the SYM of ARN, which sees its members committed to seeking strategies and structured methods to assume the safeguard of Creation as a community option and to gather good practices already in place.

This creates an interesting dynamic: young people confront, reflect, learn and face the environmental issue, suggesting sustainable attitudes and good practices. The Salesians listen to the girls and boys, who educate them and help them understand the new processes and go with them on the same path.

But why should young people who grew up in the Salesian charism care about the environment? Because the Salesian Family has always believed in youthful protagonism. Young people are those who have the strength to conduct small actions capable of generating great changes. It is they who can be action, movement, and inspiration for the development of sustainable environments. Young people are agents of change and environmental tutors, who through their skills and authority can guarantee the search for a more just and inclusive society in harmony with the planet.

Recently the SYM commission of ARN has discussed these issues to sensitize its members and adopt new concrete proposals in local realities.

In the debate, Youth Ministry presented the Salesian platform "Don Bosco Green Alliance" (DBGA) and its contribution to the thought, action, and management of a global Salesian environmental policy.

Struggling together for a healthy and safe environment, taking care of all forms of life on the planet and building, at the same time, a new generation of citizens and young people committed to the care of our "common home".
