SPECIAL REPORTS

(ANS - Turin) - The month of October, the mission month, carries within itself the germ of reciprocity and the spontaneous act of giving to the other, to one's brother in difficulty. For the Salesian Mission Office in Turin, "Missioni Don Bosco", October is a time to celebrate the importance of being united as Christians in the name of solidarity and brotherhood. On this issue, the Pope has just signed the document on social friendship and fraternity, and with this third Encyclical, the Pope wants to give a strong message in this historical moment in which health is added to a socio-economic and ecological crisis, due to the coronavirus.

(ANS – Dublin) – As the COVID-19 contagion spread daily into new countries and regions of our world, Don Bosco Aid has stood alongside the Salesians across the world. The Planning and Development Office (PDO) of the Irish Province, “Don Bosco Aid”, through a €65,342 emergency funding from Misean Cara, an Irish-based international missionary development movement, helped people affected by this pandemic in five countries of Asia and Africa.

(ANS - Rome) - In the year of the coronavirus, the traditional appointment of the Salesian Mission Expedition was inevitably postponed to a later date. But the mission does not stop, because every Salesian, every religious, every baptized person is, in truth, called to be a missionary. In this month of October, missionary month, for the 11th of the month, the day dedicated to the Salesian Missions, the General Councilor in charge of animating the whole sector of the Congregation's missions, Fr Alfred Maravilla, offers his contribution on the subject.

(ANS – Rome) - Tomorrow, Saturday 10 October, the beatification ceremony of the young Carlo Acutis will take place in Assisi, presided over by Cardinal Agostino Vallini. This young man, who lived a short but intense life, a man indicated by the Pope as a model for young people in his Apostolic Exhortation Christus Vivit, and proposed by many as the "Patron of the Internet" for his computer skills, has prayer groups named after him all over the world and many are the catechists, educators and priests themselves who are fascinated by the life of this young man.
