(ANS – New Rochelle) - Top of FormSalesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins humanitarian organizations and countries around the globe in honoring the International Day of Charity celebrated each year on Sept. 5. The date was chosen by the General Assembly of the United Nations to commemorate the anniversary of the passing of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 “for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitute a threat to peace.”

(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins humanitarian organizations and countries around the globe in recognizing World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. In 2013, United Nations member states adopted a resolution that designated July 30 as the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. The day aims to raise awareness about the victims of human trafficking and promote and protect their rights.
(ANS – New Delhi) – "It is our firm belief that the catechetical mission in India is only as strong as the preparedness of the lay catechists and catechism teachers who play a vital role in nurturing and sustaining the faith of our young. Hence, we need to continue the tradition handed down by our early missionaries in training and equipping the laity in the important mission of evangelisation and catechesis". This was emphasized by Father Sivy Koroth, Salesian (SDB), Coordinator of Education to Faith Dimension for the Salesian region of South Asia, which includes India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
