(ANS – Nakornpathom) – From 22 to 26 April 2021, the Sisters of the Queenship of Mary held their 6th General Chapter at Baan Phu Waan, Nakornpathom Province, with the theme: “Disciples of Christ - Living New Evangelizers”. 22 members participated in this historic event, representing the various communities. Cardinal Francis Xavier Kriengsak Kovitwanich, Archbishop of Bangkok, also gave testimony of his closeness to the Congregation by visiting the Chapter members on the afternoon of Sunday 25 April.

All together, the Chapter members sought the will of God in matters of importance in an atmosphere of love and unity, and looked for ways to be faithful to the Gospel and to the spiritual heritage of the founder.

The Chapter Assembly held the election for the new Superior General of the Congregation: Sr. Maria Magdalen Pranee Kumputh, elected for the second time, will serve from 2021 to 2025.

The Assembly also chose the Council Members of the Superior General. The General Council elected by the Assembly is thus composed by:

  • Sr. Maria Magdalen Pranee Kumputh - Superior General;
  • Sr. Maria Ladda Ratchaneeladdajit - Vicar General;
  • Sr. Maria Mazzarello Suneerat Mitcharoentaworn – Treasurer;
  • Sr. Teresa Orachorn Kittawee - Advisor for Formation;
  • Sr. Angela Anchalee Keesee - Advisor for Evangelization and Education.

The meeting proceeded smoothly under the expert guidance of Fr Charles Velardo, SDB. He also gave additional reflections on the three vows in the religious life, the life of prayer, the community life, and being religious - evangelizers.

The Sisters of the Queenship of Mary (SQM) have been members of the Salesian Family since 1996, and are the 29th branch of this large tree. Founded by the Servant of God Fr Carlo Della Torre SDB, (1900-1982), these sisters are dedicated to the education of the young through schools. They also work in various capacities in the Catholic Dioceses of Thailand, namely, in Bangkok, Surat Thani, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Ubonratchathani.

“Let us pray for our Congregation and all the members so that we will live according to the charism of founder for the salvation of the young,” the religious sisters kindly ask.
