(ANS - Sanlúcar la Mayor) - The Salesian Family in Spain organized a seminar on vocational animation in Sanlúcar la Mayor, Seville, from 9 to 11 October, designed to focus on youth ministry with reference to vocations and to favor the development of a life project among young people. The challenge, shared by the entire Church, is to ensure that the young people who do visit Salesian environments find their way of being Christians in the world, and that they be accompanied towards discovering their own specific vocations: laity, marriage, priesthood or consecrated life.

The event was attended by Spain's two Salesian Provincials, the Provincial of Portugal, the FMA Provincial, several representatives of the Youth Ministry and Formation teams, and Salesian Family members.

"This seminar has a pastoral perspective. Here we intend to speak of our vocation," said Fr Koldo Gutiérrez, Spanish National Delegate for Youth Ministry. Fr Francisco José Pérez, YM Delegate of Spain-Mary Help of Christians Province (SMX), presented a report on "Meaningful Communities." Going beyond simple reflections or arguments, it highlighted the various and necessary decisions to be taken in the future. "We need communities capable of being. Young people today are looking for evidence of community life," he explained.

The first day closed with the Eucharist presided over by the Provincial of "Spain-San Giacomo Maggiore" (SSM), Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, and the 'good night' of FMA Provincial, Sister María del Rosario García, who presented the vocational animation plan of the nuns in Spain and Portugal.

On the morning of Tuesday, 10 October, Fr Xabier Camino spoke of "Education's Itinerary towards Faith, of Accompaniment and Vocational Discernment", while the afternoon was dedicated to "Salesian Youth Ministry and Formation" with a presentation by Fr Gutiérrez. "Put God at the center of their existence, share it with others, so they may understand life as a vocation and a mission. These are the two essential and inseparable ingredients of Salesian ministry and formation," said the speaker.

There was also time for celebrating the Eucharist, presided by Fr José Aníbal Milhais Pinto, Provincial of Portugal, and to hear testimonies on the subject by Jesuit and Claretian religious.

The meeting ended with the presentation of the seminar's final document, with its conclusions, and the Eucharist presided by SMX Provincial, Fr Cristóbal López.
