(ANS - Ayagualo) - Don Bosco was not only an evangelizer-educator, but also a "born communicator". It is true that the Saint of the Youth did not write treatises on communication, nor on his educational system, but as Fr Javier Valiente, SDB, writes: "Don Bosco is a modern educator in his way of understanding communication in the educational field", why it is necessary to know this aspect of Don Bosco communicator. From November 27th to 29th, 30 people, responsible for Social Communication of Salesian works in the six Central American countries, met to reflect on two very topical issues: Don Bosco, a communicator, and knowing how to tell stories.

In a climate of friendship, optimism and great professionalism the themes were developed: "Don Bosco communicator" and "telling stories by images", in relation to both spiritual and technical formation. Today more than ever, the communicator must be a man of God to transmit that God loves and accompanies humanity.

Thus, if Don Bosco was a born communicator, on the other hand, it should be noted that today is the era of images. Narration, storytelling, are today an art to be learned so that the message reaches the recipients. Learning how to tell stories has now become a pressing need for both educators and communicators.

In addition, the general guidelines for the work of 2019 were shared, with general agreements and local commitments in and of each center or house.

For next year, the communicators are called to organize themselves for each country, and to promote this sector of the Salesian mission as a whole. Furthermore, at local level, they are to undertake to develop and update their communication plans.

The Regional Communications Department committed to creating a platform for carrying out data collection in the Province, as well as providing ongoing formation on the subject of communicating.

Christian Jiménez, for his part, had the opportunity to present to the communicators the work of the team of the Projects Office of the Province.

The meeting ended with a moment of fraternity that consolidated the atmosphere of collaboration and synergy.
