(ANS - Rome) –Yesterday 6 April there was a touching celebration which culminated in the enthronement of a distinguished relic of Don Bosco. It marked the opening of the first ever seminar for the promotion of the causes of beatification and canonization. It is being given by the Postulator General, Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, and is being held at the Generalate of the Congregation in Rome.

There are about 120 participants, including experts and representatives of all the groups of the Salesian Family. Fr Cameroni stated clearly the objectives of the seminar: to enhance the spiritual and pastoral heritage of the saints of the Salesian Family; to offer guidelines and best practices for promoting the causes of candidates for sainthood; to help in investigation and follow-up of alleged miracles and to understand the true meaning and purpose of a canonization process.

The motivation for the seminar is given by the need for spiritual and pastoral mobilization of the whole Salesian Family, of all the friends and admirers of Don Bosco and his charism to make them all aware of the rediscovery of the heroes of our Family.

"Our saints are the stars that guide our path, if we still know how to look at them," Fr Bruno Ferrero, Director of the Italian Salesian Bulletin, told the participants.
