(ANS – Munich) – In the run-up to the elections at the end of May, there are many discussions in the media and in society about what Europe represents. During the meeting of the Salesian delegates for social communication (09/05-12/05/2019) in Munich it was already noticeable: community.

The participants meet each other once a year and always in another city in order to plan projects together or exchange experiences about innovative ideas in public relations. Fr Filiberto González Plasencia, Councilor for Social Communication in Rome, leads these meetings: “The world changes. We live in a digital world and Don Bosco would get involved actively and with passion – for the young people. That’s why our meetings are so important in order to be prepared for the future.”

Referring to the General Chapter in Spring 2020 the delegates discussed intensely about how to reach young people in the media and why the digital world can be seen as the new oratory. That was also topic of a speech delivered by Sonja Pohl, responsible for pastoral care of young people of the German Episcopal Conference. The delegates also learned about new digital trends via a tour through Bavaria’s public broadcasting service. The program was completed by a visit of several tourist sites as well as times for common prayers and for personal talks; that means: four days of Europe at its best.

The delegates also used the time for a short video about the European elections: www.bit.ly/EuropaSDB
