UniSALESIANO's Rector, Fr Luigi Favero, SDB, told the audience that he himself already cultivated the dream of being able to offer a comfortable place to the academic community, and that the students had also wanted a space for rest between the many hours of study and effort.
"We did a project with our collaborators, Reynold Construction and architect Emílio Ruas, and we presented it first to the Provincial Center in Campo Grande, and then to Rome, where Fr Vitali was our 'advocate' and he helped us get the necessary resources," he explained.
The Rector then illustrated the spaces that make up the Community Life Center, an area of 4,500 m² in total: an arts room capable of accommodating up to 160 people; a gym; a relaxation room with colorful seats; a refectory bar; rooms for treatment and psychological, educational and professional accompaniment; and rooms for University Pastoral Care and the Social Department.
"We want our students to feel at home and that they find comfortable and soothing spaces of community life in this environment," he said.
For his part, Fr Vitali emphasized that the Community Life Center aims to strengthen the family atmosphere within the university center, "so that students can become good professionals and good citizens. May they have the three elements of human wisdom: professionalism, citizenship and transcendence. May they live well in this house," he said.
Instead, Fr Gildásio Mendes, Provincial of Campo Grande and Chancellor of UniSALESIANO, underlined the presence of a spectacular luminous fountain that the Rector had built in the center of the new building. "The luminous fountain brings water for life, and in the chapel there is always Jesus Christ. Remember that Jesus is the true living water and that He loves you," he said. In fact, all the structures and resources of the university are directed towards the integral and comprehensive good of the students. For this he concluded by saying: “Educating is taking care of people at 360° and this environment demonstrates our goal. It was built with a constant eye on the quality of life."
The inauguration ended with the intervention of the Mayor of Araçatuba, Dilador Bolocrges, the blessing of the environments by local bishop Msgr. Sérgio Krzywy, and the lighting of the luminous fountain.
