(ANS - Panama City) - "We have started again after our wonderful meeting in Krakow, where we celebrated the XXXI World Youth Day," wrote Pope Francis. "At the end of the WYD in Krakow, I indicated the next goal of our pilgrimage which, with God's help, will take us to Panama in 2019. The Virgin Mary will accompany us along this path, she who all generations shall call blessed." The Youth Ministry Dicastery, in contact with the leaders of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) in Central America, began the work of organizing and planning what will be the feast of all those who share the Salesian charism.
Panama City, Panama - October 2018 - On October 2 in the Basilica of Don Bosco came the relic of Blessed Óscar Arnulfo Romero, one of the patron saints of WYD, with a ceremony presided over by the archbishop of Panama, José Domingo Ulloa. Numerous faithful welcomed the reliquary containing a piece of cloth stained with the blood of the blessed when he was wounded to death, a bust and a replica of his mitre. The relic will remain in Panama until the World Youth Day which will take place in January 2019, and during this period will travel to various parts of the country. On October 14th, Pope Francis will proclaim saints Msgr. Romero and Pope Paul VI and with them two priests, two religious and a layman will also be canonized.

(ANS - Panama City) - From 6 to 10 June, 2018, about 250 representatives of the youth pastoral offices of the Episcopal Conferences, Movements and Ecclesial Associations from all over the world met in Panama for the Second preparatory meeting for the next World Youth Day (WYD), to be held in Panama from 22 to 27 January, 2019. Representing the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) were Renato Cursi, of the Salesian Youth Ministry Department, and Sr. Maria del Carmen Indurán, Coordinator of the Youth Ministry of the Central South America Province, of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA).
City of Guatamela, Guatemala - June 2018 - On June 2, the International Commission preparing the Salesian Youth Movement's participation at the World Youth Day in Panama 2019 met at the headquarters of the Salesian Province of Central America (CAM). Participants included: Fr René Santos, Delegate for Youth Ministry of the CAM Province; the FMA Provincial of Central America South and the Provincial Youth Ministry Coordinator, Sr. Maria del Carmen Induran; Fr Alex Figueroa, director of the Don Bosco Technical Institute in Panama; Fr David Panezo, director of the Salesian house in Grenada, Nicaragua; Zaida Navarrete, Regional Delegate for Salesian Communications in Central America, and Renato Cursi, of the Salesian Youth Ministry Department. The meeting helped to advance preparations for the participation of the SYM groups around the world at WYD with a special focus on the preparation of the global SYM meeting to be held on January 23, 2019, in Panama, in the presence of the Rector Major of the Salesians and of the Mother General of the FMA.
(ANS - Tegucigalpa) – The World Youth Day (WYD) is a great youth gathering that attracts hundreds of thousands of young people from all over the world at each edition. The next WYD is scheduled in Panama for 2019 and, while preparations in Panama are underway, the symbols accompanying this event are traveling across the globe: the Pilgrim Cross and the icon of Mary "Salus Populi Romani" have arrived in the Diaconate "Immaculate Conception" of the archdiocese of Tegucigalpa, in Honduras.
