Guatemala City, Guatemala - February 2018 - The Salesian Youth Movement of the Salesian community "La Divina Providencia" of Guatemala joyfully gathered around the symbols of the World Youth Day (WYD), which arrived in the country in view of the next edition, in Panama, in January 2019. The young people, accompanied by Fr Marvin Mena, SDB, came together with joy and optimism around the WYD Cross itself and the painting of the Virgin, and participated in the celebration of the Eucharist.

Port-au-Prince, Haiti - November 2017 - The two symbols of the WYD, the cross and the icon of the Virgin Mary, reached Haiti on November 11, and welcomed at the airport by Cardinal Chibly Langlois, Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Eugene Martin Nugent and the Ambassador of Panama. The welcome was offered by the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince, the Salesian Mgr. Sylvain Ducange. The youth delegations from all of the country's dioceses then carried the cross and the icon to the parish of Altagrace where a solemn ceremony took place. The two symbols will be on view in Haiti until November 25.
(ANS - Panama City) – "With joy, I announce that the next World Youth Day will be in Panama in 2019," said Pope Francis at the end of WYD 2016 in Krakow, Poland. A WYD in Panama is a dream that has been sought since the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the diocese of Santa Maria Antigua, the very first diocese of continental America. On 3 July, the Official Anthem of Panama's WYD 2019, number XXXIV, was presented; its title: "Behold the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me according to your word." (Lk 1,38)
(ANS - City of Panama) - At the World Youth Day (WYD) in Krakow 2016, after announcing that the next WYD would be in Panama in 2019, Pope Francis said, "I do not know if I will be in Panama but I can assure you one thing, Peter (the Pope) will be in Panama." Yesterday, Sunday 14 May, during the Eucharist presided over by Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa of Panama City, the official logo of the Panama WYD (22-27 January 2019) was launched and the Patrons of the event announced.
Rome, Italy - April 2017 - On 4 April, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, received a visit from the delegation of Panama, which is part of the preparatory committee of the 2019 World Youth Day. Among those present were the Ambassador of Panama to the Holy See, Sig.ra Miroslava Rosas; Cardinal José Luis Lacunza, Bishop of David; Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa of Panama City; Bishop Rafael Valdivieso of Chitré and vice-president of the Panamanian Episcopal Conference; Fr Ramón Aguilar of the Archdiocese of Panama; Ms Carmen Inchausti from the Embassy; and Mr Victor Chang, executive secretary of WYD 2019.
