India – “Kiran Anjali Programme” gives hope to Plus Two Girls through Education Support

(ANS – Hyderabad)The Kiran Anjali Project’s mission is to provide guidance and financial support to institutions providing education to disadvantaged children, especially girls, in India. The Kiran Anjali Project partners with small, grassroots nonprofits, and also with Salesians. At “Bosco Seva Kendra”, Don Bosco Provincial House in Hyderabad, last 20 October, Fr BellamkondaSudhakar, Executive Director of “BSK”, and Mounika, Renuka, Divya, Nita, Sonia and Plus1 & Plus2 Girls and their parents took part in a special day about Bosco Seva Kendra and Kiran Anjali Programme.

The day started with the entire team welcoming Nita, Sonia and Divya. Fr Sudhakar had handed over bouquets to them and felicitated each of them with a shawl. There was an informal morning refreshments session for everyone before they started the presentation.

Fr Sudhakar made a presentation on “The Four Candles” that explains about Love, Faith and Hope. He explained to the girls the importance of never giving up on Hope. After that, Renuka made a presentation on Effective Communication. Some videos explaining the importance of the same were shown.

Renuka also conducted some games - Picture Talk, Draw a picture, and correct the English and IQ tests. Children participated with lot of energy and excitement. Around 1 o clock, a lunch was served and snapped several pictures and videos. Nita and Sonia took interviews of the girls individually asking them about their association with Bosco Seva Kendra - Kiran Anjali Programme.

The afternoon session started with Mounika and Sonia giving a Class on Self Defence and its importance. Children were demonstrated some simple techniques of self-defence. Sonia also gave some useful tips to the girls on self-protection. Girls were so motivated to meet Sonia – who is part of Teen-KAP in USA. Sonia is 16 years old and had so much to share with them and encourage them. It was wonderful to see how they connected with her.

Later, Divya conducted few games to help the girls become more open and friendly. All the girls exhaustively enjoyed and promised to be more communicative. Nita got gifts for the girls – A Smiley ball and lots of chocolates. The day ended with cake-cutting moment of the girls who celebrate their birthday in the month of October and promising to stay connected and learn from each other.
