(ANS – Chennai) – In the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung in Chennai and its surrounding areas, Don Bosco Arts and Science College, Kilpauk, Chennai, demonstrated unwavering solidarity with the communities most affected. On December 9, the students and the college administration embarked on a vital relief mission for those in need in the neighbourhoods of Vyasarpadi, MKB Nagar, TP Chattaram, and Chetpet.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation left by the cyclone Michaung, Don Bosco Arts and Science College launched a comprehensive relief operation in the areas where the impact was most acute. The Rector and Secretary of the College, Father Raj Kumar, Father Sagayaraj Kasi, Father Leo, the Director of SURABI, Father Joe Anand and the dedicated volunteers reached out to those in adversity in Vyasarpadi, MKB Nagar, TP Chattaram, and Chetpet.

The relief mission was marked by the distribution of a wide range of essential supplies of first aid provisions, ensuring immediate medical care for those injured or in distress, and necessities like food, clean water, clothing, and hygiene items to families grappling with shortages, and blankets and shelter materials.

"In times of adversity, it is both our duty and privilege to support those in need," emphasized Father Raj Kumar, Rector and Secretary of Don Bosco Arts and Science College. “Our institution has always upheld the values of community service and social responsibility, and this relief effort exemplifies these enduring principles. Our presence in these neighbourhoods is a tangible demonstration of our enduring commitment to stand by our community during times of crisis,” said Father Sagayaraj Kasi.

The dedicated service by the institution continues to support the most vulnerable communities in the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung. As Chennai works diligently toward recovery, the College stands as a beacon of hope, providing vital assistance to the people affected.
