France – DBIMA’s Cinematic Triumph: First Graduation Marks a Milestone for Don Bosco’s Dream

05 December 2023

(ANS – Paris) – In a momentous occasion on 24 November 2023, Don Bosco International Media Academy (DBIMA) celebrated its inaugural graduation ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the realization of Don Bosco’s dream to provide art education to the youth.

Founded on the enduring principles of Don Bosco, DBIMA’s journey encountered challenges, overcoming accreditation hurdles and navigating a global pandemic. From its modest beginning with eight students, the media school has flourished into a vibrant community of forty, offering diverse streams in cinema education.

DBIMA’s success extends beyond mere numbers, as European Union-funded projects have reached 120 young minds across Europe. These projects, encompassing free online filmmaking, artistic enlightenment, and photo journalism, have underscored cinema’s profound impact on enriching lives and fostering a deeper appreciation for the transformative power of art.

The graduation ceremony not only celebrated the accomplishments of the students but also honoured the dedicated faculty members, partners, collaborators, and well-wishers who played a crucial role in supporting the mission.

Father John Paul Swaminathan, SDB, Director of the school, emphasized to the graduates the purpose, compassion, and meaningful storytelling, urging them to become the voice of the voiceless. As these professional filmmakers embark on their journeys, they were encouraged to contribute to DBIMA beyond technical expertise, echoing the spirit of Don Bosco through their inspiring cinema content to the world.

DBIMA’s inaugural graduation serves as more than a mere celebration of achievements; it stands as a testament to resilience, passion, and the transformative power of cinema. The founder envisions a future where DBIMA continues to inspire and illuminate, transcending borders and barriers.

This triumphant moment at DBIMA is not just a milestone; it is a continuation of Don Bosco’s vision, bringing art education to the forefront and shaping the next generation of storytellers and visionaries. As DBIMA moves forward, it aspires to be a beacon of inspiration in the realm of cinema education, carrying forward the torch lit by Don Bosco himself when he visited first time Paris in 1883. The journey continues.
