India – Hyderabad Social Communication Centre announces Winners of “Colours of life” Short Film Festival 2020

(ANS – Hyderabad) – ‘Colours of Life’ the short film festival is the brainchild of a few communication professionals who endeavored to bring hope in the times of environmental and coronavirus. The sole purpose of this short film festival is to bridge the gap between the crisis and the level of awareness most people have on current issues by the film, the medium, tool and social expression as an art form. Thus, encouraging young people to have a dialogue not only on the film-making process but also on environmental and pandemic crisis.

The main objectives are: 1. To recognize film makers from all walks of life and create films that raise awareness on issues related to environment and c-virus 2. To support learning and foster collaboration in the context of film and television and other art forms of the moving image 3. To bring hope to the people and think that things can always change and get better to allow people to deliver or communicate their art and ideas on films.

Taking into consideration of the objectives, Don Bosco Pravahini, the Social Communication Center of the Salesian Province of Hyderabad, India has launched an online Short Film Festival on 24th August 2020 based on themes 1. Save Nature-Save Future 2. Life in Covid.

Don Bosco Pravahini received 137 short films across India and two from France as well. Out of 137 short films, 20 were short-listed. Shri Thanikella Bharani the legendry Actor, Writer and Director; Shri Ramana Gogula, the lyricist, Music Director and Producer from Tollywood, gave their consent to be part of the Jury. “It was quite hard to judge the short films as all of them were professionally filmed and edited” said Shri Thanikella Bharani, the Chief Judge. 

The Grand Finale and award ceremony were scheduled to 3rd November 2020 at Don Bosco Provincial House through Don Bosco Pravahini YouTube Channel. The Chief Guest Rev. Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, the Provincial; Special Guests and Chief Judges Shri Thanikella Bhranani, Shri Ramana Gogula; Guest of Honour, Rev Fr Etukuri Raphael, former Director of Amruthavani and the President of the Award Ceremony Rev Fr B Rayappa sdb, Rector, BIRDY a few brother Salesians, lay collaborators, Well Wishers and the Don Bosco Youth were present.

Finally, the silence was broken as the results were announced. The first winning Short Film is ‘Thedel’ in Tamil; The second ‘Brou Ha Ha’ in Marati; The Third ‘The Locker’ in Malayalam.

There were two other awards under Special Category viz, ‘Ma Tuje Salam’ from Andhra Pradesh and ‘Light of Darkness’ in Bengali.

Both Special Guests and Chief Judges expressed that the short films are highly professional and carry a lot of production and commercial values.

Each filmmaker put in lot of efforts in bringing out their talent to the world. The online award ceremony came to an end with a vote of thanks by Fr Ashok sdb, director, DB Pravahini.
