10 May 2021

Panjim, India - May 2021 - The final-year Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering students of the "Don Bosco College of Engineering" (DBCE) in Goa have successfully developed a prototype of a sanitizing robot, which works remotely and can disinfect closed offices, open-air markets, public areas, hospitals and other places without the intervention of frontline workers. The developer team members - Vivek Khadilkar, Saeel Kamat and Drasti Naik - designed and tested the project under the guidance of the “DBCE” professors, Prof. Mohini Naik Gadekar and Prof. Michelle Viegas. They attribute their success to the guidance and support of the director of the "DBCE" Fr Kinley D’Cruz, Dr. Neena Panandikar, and Dr. HOD Varsha Turkar. The Prime Minister of the Indian State of Goa, Dr Pramod Sawant, commended the students for the innovative work and encouraged them to work further for the benefit of society. Students also received appreciation and encouragement from Goa's Minister of Health, Vishwajit Rane.
