Papua New Guinea - Solidarity missionary project of DBTS of Gabutu

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea - June 2021 - On Friday 4 June, during the celebrations of Salesian Mission Day, the "Don Bosco Technical School" (DBTS) of Gabutu launched the "Scraper Project", a solidarity fundraising missionary project in favor of the “Don Bosco Salesian Center” in South Sudan, run by the Sisters of Charity. The "scraper" is an essential kitchen tool in every family in Papua New Guinea and the students, under the guidance of their instructors, have learned to produce it; now, through the sale of scrapers, the project intends to support the construction of a new building and the purchase of machinery and equipment for the South Sudanese work. Fr Pedro Sachitula, SDB, Director of DBTS, stated that the whole educational-pastoral community, including the Association of Salesian Cooperators, is involved in the project, and stressed that the initiative is a concrete response of the school to what the Salesian Mission Day 2021: "One Father, One Family - Missionary Solidarity as Initial Proclamation". Other fundraising activities will take place from June to October 2021.
