The Young at Risk (YaR) Commission of the Salesian Province of Chennai organized YaR Day 2023 on the theme, "Choose Life. Not Drugs", on February 26, 2023. The aim was to spread awareness of substance use disorders among children and young adults. The programme was held at Don Bosco Beatitudes, Vyasarpadi, Chennai.  Seven YaR centres participated, with 317 children and staff members. The children expressed their understanding of the danger of substance abuse and its consequences through skit, mime, song and dance. The participants learned that substance abuse could lead to antisocial activities and personality disorders. The Chief Guest, Rev. Father Don Bosco Lourdusamy SDB, the INM Provincial, addressed the young people and encouraged them to be focused on life. He appreciated the Salesians working at YaR centres for showing ways and preventive methods to guide young people. Don Bosco Beatitudes won first place, followed by Pope John's Garden, the second prize and Don Bosco Centre, Jawadhi Hills, placed third in the competitions organized for the day. The overall disciplined group was awarded to DBAI - Saranalayam. The best students of the 10th and 12th classes (2021-2022) were awarded. The Magic show by Mr Vasudevan was the highlight of the day.
