(ANS - Beirut) - The multidimensional crisis that exploded in Lebanon in October 2019 continues to worsen in its various aspects at the beginning of 2022, that is, more than two years since it broke out. If the social and economic-financial aspect is what directly and most interests the population, because it affects their daily lives and wallets, it is the political aspect that is at the origin of it all.
(ANS - Montevideo) - The course of "Integral Ecological Baccalaureate" (4th, 5th, and 6th year of secondary school) that the College and High School "St. Francis de Sales", in Maturana, Montevideo, shall inaugurate this year, has been declared of ministerial interest by the Ministry of Environment of the Uruguayan government. The objective of this formative course is to accompany young people in the formation of a citizen’s environmental conscience, through an active pedagogy, educating in an interdisciplinary way and inspired by the Encyclical Laudato Sì and Salesian spirituality. This is a concrete proposal based on the eighth programmatic line for the 2020-2026 term indicated by the Rector Major at the end of the 28th General Chapter of the Salesians of Don Bosco.
(ANS – New Delhi) – The Salesian School of Social Communication organised an online formation programme on 13 January 2022 for the South Asia Region. Fr Miguel Angel García Morcuende, General Councillor for Youth Ministry, was invited to animate the gathering on the topic ‘Communication and the Youth Pastoral Dimension’. Around 35 members participated in this programme. The participants were greeted and welcomed by the South Asia Regional Delegate for Communication, Fr Ernest Rosario, SDB, and by the General Councillor for Social Communication, Fr Gildasio Mendes.
(ANS – Guwahati) – The year-long centenary celebrations of the Don Bosco Society in the Northeast began on January 12, 2022, at Guwahati with the hoisting of the centenary flag by the Chief Guest, Most Reverend John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati, at a solemn function at Don Bosco, Provincial House.
(ANS - Turin) - “Every community is Cana of Galilee,” said the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, in his homily at the conclusion of the 40th edition of the Spirituality Days of the Salesian Family. Starting from the commentary on the Gospel which commemorates what happened between Mary and her son, with the disciples also present at the wedding banquet, he remarked that “God is always at work where men and women spend their time, and this also in the Salesian Family.”
