Spain – The exhibition "Indestructible" at "Misiones Salesianas" Museum extended until February 12

20 January 2022

(ANS - Madrid) - The Museum of "Misiones Salesianas," the Salesian Mission Office of Madrid, has received a good number of visitors since its reopening last October 20. The interest aroused by the exhibition "Indestructibles", by photojournalists Xavi Aldekoa and Alfons Rodríguez, and the attention aroused in various groups of people, eager to participate in a guided tour, have led to the exhibition being extended until next February 12.

The photographic exhibition "Indestructible", visited throughout Spain by more than 86,000 people, was the temporary collection chosen for the reopening of the Museum of "Misiones Salesianas". Illustrating the stories of hope and overcoming of African children in images, the exhibition managed to capture the interest of a new audience for the Museum, interested in photojournalism and photography as forms of artistic expression and awareness-raising.

During this period, various artistic, theatrical and musical performances accompanied the works exhibited at the Museum of "Misiones Salesianas" (MMS). Transformative activities were also carried out with school groups up to 12 years old, and participatory reflection film forums aimed at adolescents, thanks to the campaign "Inocencia entre rejas" (Innocence behind bars) and the screening of the documentary film "Libertad", produced by the Salesian Mission Office itself.

“The exhibition cycles deal with committed themes, thanks to the research and conservation work being done,” explained Mariano Borreguero, Coordinator of the museum. “And the activities organized in our cultural and educational space are for all audiences.”

That's why the "Indestructible" exhibit has now been extended through Feb. 12. It can be visited Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with admission subject to registration and free of charge, until the museum's capacity is reached.

The year 2022 promises to be full of surprises, initiatives, and activities at the Museum of "Misiones Salesianas" to showcase the work of Salesian missionaries on five continents. “We face the challenge of a 2022 full of expectations and possibilities, but also with the uncertainty due to the pandemic; we will present an intense program of exhibitions that we hope will be of interest to all visitors,” concludes the Museum Coordinator.
