The purpose of the event was to share the results achieved and the impact generated by the project, as well as to gather valuable feedback to continue strengthening educational and environmental initiatives focused on the care of our Common Home and the protection of the environment.
The event saw the active participation of several organizations outside the Salesian world that had enthusiastically collaborated on the project. These included the Economic Cooperation and Development (SECO) Office of the Swiss Embassy, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADS), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Also present were representatives of national organizations that are leaders in post-consumer strategies and electronic waste management, such as Litto S.A.S., OCADE, EcoComputo, Red Verde, Pilas con el Ambiente, PsCheck, and Reverse Logistics Group.
A special mention goes to “EcoPartner,” one of the main sponsors of the project, which supported the Salesian center throughout all stages of planning, implementation, and monitoring.
Also taking part were members from the Provincial Office of “San Pietro Claver” (Colombia-Bogotá - COB), the Salesian house of the Bambino Gesù in Bogotá, and the Don Bosco Center. These groups played a key role in coordinating and carrying out the project.
During the official closing ceremony of the “FESOR Don Bosco” project, the numerous opportunities created by this initiative for the Salesian presence in Colombia were highlighted. These included the enhancement of pedagogical, technical, and environmental training for youth, as well as personal growth and the development of self-awareness among participating boys and girls as agents of change—especially, though not exclusively, in the field of environmental protection.
“With optimism and enthusiasm, we foresee the development of a future ‘FESOR II’ project, which will allow us to continue on this path—equipping new generations with better tools to care for the planet and promoting real opportunities for sustainable employment in a country where environmental issues are becoming increasingly important,” the Salesians leading the initiative shared during the ceremony.
To close the event, they publicly thanked all the Salesian communities involved in the project. Special recognition was given to the directors, coordinators, administrative staff, and above all, the teachers and students whose dedication, commitment, and hard work made this dream a reality.
