Brazil - Monument to Don Bosco inaugurated for 100 years of Salesian presence in Massaranduba
Massaranduba, Brazil - September 2021 - On 7 September, on the eve of the centenary of the arrival of Salesians in Massaranduba, the parish community of the "Sacred Heart of Jesus" inaugurated a monument dedicated to Don Bosco. The event was attended by Fr Gilson Marcos da Silva, Superior of "St Pius X" Salesian Province of Porto Alegre (BPA), the Salesians of the Massaranduba community, the coordinators 25 communities of the parish, members of the Salesian Family and various local authorities. Fr Tarcizio Paulo Odelli, Rector and parish priest, thanked God "for all the benefits and graces granted in these 100 years of presence and evangelization of the Salesians", recalling the Salesians who passed through the city and highlighting the venerable Fr Rodolfo Komorek. The following day the Provincial presided over the Eucharist for the centenary. After the final blessing, he was presented with an image of Don Bosco which will travel across the 25 communities of the parish until July 2022. The centenary logo was also presented on the occasion.
