05 April 2022

Beit El Wadi, Egypt - April 2022 - From Saturday 26 March to Wednesday 6 April, the Provincial Chapter of the "Adolescent Jesus" Province of the Middle East (MOR) will be held in Egypt. The 25 chapter members (21 in presence and 4 connected online) come from all the houses of the MOR Province; also present were three invited SDB trainees and, from April 1-4, and 15 lay people who hold positions of responsibility in the houses of the Province. The Provincial Chapter was introduced by Fr Emanuele Vezzoli, SDB, Regulator, and continued with the opening statement of the Chapter and the report on the Province by Fr Alejandro León, MOR Provincial. For the first six days, the chapter work was carried out by the Salesians present at the chapter. From Friday, April 1, the Chapter assembly was enriched by the presence of 15 lay people in a beautiful experience as Salesian family, with moments of prayer, discussion, the study of documents, fraternity, and healthy collaboration. The Provincial Chapter worked on two sessions: the first, with only the Salesians, focused on the two commissions of the "Redesign of the Province" and the review of several articles of the "Provincial Directory"; the second focused on the implementation of the 3 nuclei of the GC28: "Youth" and "Laity" (together with the laity) and "Formation" (SDB only). The intense work allowed for the creation of a climate of collaboration and debate, capable of giving the chapter assembly an overall picture that was adherent to the realities of the individual zones and houses of the province.
