New Delhi, India – January 2024 – The Salesian St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School in Pathaliaghat won third prize in the national competition for school bands, in the category of female brass bands. The prestigious competition was held at the Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi, from 21 to 22 January. The event was attended by 457 young people from 16 schools across India. The St Xavier school band comprised 25 girls between the ages of 11 and 17, from various villages in Tripura. The group, formed just eight months ago, has shown exceptional talent, demonstrating their skills through hard work and dedication. The girls thus won third place, awarded by a jury composed of members of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.
