DR Congo – Salesian ‘ITIG’ school celebrates National Tree Day: a renewed commitment to our ‘Common Home’

09 December 2025

Goma, DR Congo - 5 December 2025 - ITIG made a significant contribution to the National Tree Day, celebrated on 5 December in the Democratic Republic of Congo, by mobilising students, teachers and staff around a common goal: preserving the environment and improving the school environment. Under the theme “Keeping an eye on our common home, nature”, the ceremony began with a speech highlighting the essential role of trees in combating climate change and improving air quality. Addressing an attentive audience, the speaker emphasised the need to take concrete actions on a daily basis. To give practical meaning to this message, the ITIG Student Council orchestrated the symbolic event of the day: a collective tree-planting session on campus. The students, led by their teachers, planted saplings, turning awareness into concrete, educational actions.
