Italy – SYM Italy, second meeting of the National Council
(ANS – Rome) – Over the weekend of 14 and 15 March 2026, the second meeting of the National Council of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM, or MGS in Italian) in Italy took place at the Pius XI Institute in Rome, bringing together delegates, youth ministry advisers and young people from across the country. The proceedings took place both in plenary sessions and in synodal groups, with the aim of beginning the drafting of a discussion document that will guide the dialogue between the National Secretariat and the accredited groups in the regions over the next two years. This process forms part of a broader reflection aimed at increasingly clarifying and defining the identity of SYM Italy, leading ultimately to a reformulation of the Regulations. Saturday evening was enriched by Renato Cursi’s closing address, which offered a reinterpretation of the 2013 SYM Dialogue, providing useful perspectives and insights for the Secretariat and the Council in view of the next SYM Italy Dialogue, scheduled for 2028. Sunday morning was devoted to finalising the work on the core elements of the discussion document. Subsequently, the working process leading to the drafting of the 2026/27 Pastoral Proposal, entitled “Signs of His Love – Active in Charity”, was presented.
