Pakistan - Inauguration of Peter Zago Youth Center: A Beacon of Hope for Quetta’s Youth

(ANS – Quetta) - The Peter Zago Youth Center, a project spearheaded by the Don Bosco Past Pupils Local Unit Quetta, was officially inaugurated at the Don Bosco Housing Scheme (Mariam Colony, Kili Paind Khan). This momentous occasion marked the opening of a new chapter for the youth of Quetta, providing a space dedicated to their growth and well-being.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including:

  • Rev. Fr. William Matthews, Regional Councilor for East Asia Oceania Region of the Salesian Congregation.
  • Mr. Titus Johnson, former Member of the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan and key benefactor of the project.
  • Rev. Fr. Samuel Ghouri, Rector of Don Bosco Quetta.
  • Leaders of the Past Pupils Local Unit Quetta, including Mr. Awaish Yousaf (President), Mr. Waqas Titus (Vice President, Senior), and other prominent members.
  • Mr. Adil Akash, former Member of the Minority Commission Balochistan.
  • Mr. Roderick John, Colony Committee Incharge, along with his team, residents, and children.
  • Mr. William Bhatti, contractor and social worker.

The ceremony began with a heartfelt prayer and a warm welcome for the attendees. As a gesture of cultural and religious reverence, Mr. Titus Johnson presented a traditional turban to Rev. Fr. William Matthews, symbolizing deep respect and honor. Guests were further greeted with gifts, bouquets, and garlands, reflecting the community’s gratitude for their contributions.

The highlight of the event was the blessing of the newly constructed Community Hall, conducted by Rev. Fr. William Matthews, the EAO Regional Councillor. This milestone was the result of the collaborative efforts of Rev. Fr. Samuel Ghouri, Mr. Titus Johnson, and the Past Pupils Local Unit Quetta. Together, they have created a facility designed to empower the youth and foster community development.

The Peter Zago Youth Center is envisioned as a hub for activities and services that promote the physical, emotional, and social growth of local youth. Its establishment underscores the commitment of the Salesians of Don Bosco and the local leadership to empower young people and strengthen community bonds.

The event concluded on a gracious note, with guests invited to tea at the residence of Mr. Titus Johnson, provided an opportunity to relax and engage in meaningful conversations in a warm, familial atmosphere.
