RMG – Ten seeds to deepen “Young Salesians and accompaniment. Orientations and directives”

(ANS - Rome) - A series of 10 videos, short and packed with content, to be used as "small seeds" to sprout reflection on the text Young Salesians and accompaniment - Orientations and directives: this is the new proposal that the Formation Department launches to the Salesian houses of initial formation. An initiative that starts today, with an introductory video that kicks off the entire journey and which intends to illustrate the proposed path month by month until June 2021.

Given the interest aroused with the series of videos dedicated to Animating and governing the community – The ministry of the Salesian Rector - of which a new release is planned for the end of the month, with the video on the first part of the text, dedicated to Salesian consecrated identity - a new multimedia initiative is now being launched to facilitate the reading and assimilation of the document on accompaniment.

The purpose of the videos is to reach young Salesians present in the houses of initial formation in the most immediate and effective way and, through them, to support a shared reflection on the main themes of Young Salesians and accompaniment - Orientations and directives.

This text was born thanks to the involvement of over 4,000 young people in formation and Salesian accompanying persons, and is a document that the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, approved with his Council and presented at the 28th General Chapter. Now it is a question of ensuring its dissemination and effective reception in Salesian houses, especially among the communities of initial formation. This is where the idea of these seed videos came from, made in 5 languages by young confreres, who turn to their counterparts in other countries and cultures to reflect together on the issues, opportunities and challenges related to Salesian personal accompaniment today.

The videos - available in Italian, English, Spanish, French and Portuguese - have an average length of about 3 minutes; they are therefore also suitable for their sharing and viewing on the main social networks. Among the themes highlighted: youth and the capillarity of the presence of Salesians in formation as a great resource; the originality of accompaniment in the Salesian charism; creating trust, the heart of the preventive system in formation.

The "launch" video is available from today on sdb.org, on the language channels of ANSChannel of YouTube, and on the site https://formazionesdb.org/. One video is expected to be broadcast per month, from September 2020 to June 2021.

Each video ends with some questions to stimulate personal and community reflection. It is accompanied by a card - in PowerPoint or PDF - which deepens the focus of each video, that is, the generating idea of ​​the document that one wants to focus upon in that month, highlighting opportunities and challenges.

Finally, you are invited to share your thoughts on each "seed" through a web platform, thus making dialogue and confrontation truly global.

The video on the first “seed” will be made available online - again on sdb.org, on the language channels of ANSChannel, and on the website www.formazionesdb.org - next Thursday, 10 September.
