India – Suraksha Migrants Desk Vadodara Honored as Best Social Organization for Migrants Services

03 April 2025

Vadodara, India – April 2025 – Suraksha Migrants Desk Vadodara, an initiative by Don Bosco Snehalaya supporting migrants in Vadodara, has been recognized as the best social organization working for the city’s migrant community. Fr Baptist Monteiro, the Director, along with the team members of the Migrants Desk, received the award from Hon. Mr Praful Pansheriya, Minister for Education and Tribal Development, Government of Gujarat. This acknowledgement by the Sakshamthad Foundation of Parul University is both motivating and encouraging, reinforcing the importance of our continued efforts. Social work, especially service for the migrant community, has become an urgent need in these uncertain times. Many young people migrate to cities and small towns in search of employment or a basic livelihood. Often, entire families - and even whole communities - move together in search of a better future. Migrant community members often face injustice, mistreatment, harsh living conditions, poverty, exploitation, bonded labour, and other challenging circumstances. It is our collective responsibility to address these challenges and work towards empowering our migrant communities so they too can enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted. We must also assist them in accessing their rightful share of government programs and schemes, empowering them to stand on their own feet. Suraksha Migrants Desk Vadodara (SMDV) remains committed to reaching out to migrant families and individuals, providing support that fosters their upliftment, safety, security, and development.
