USA - St. Mary’s Academy Holds Annual Day of Service Across Los Angeles
(ANS - Los Angeles) - St. Mary’s Academy in Inglewood held its annual Day of Service on 20 March, giving students the opportunity to serve communities across Los Angeles. Classes were suspended for the day as students volunteered at various service sites, accompanied by their teachers. Among the locations were the Don Bosco Mission Center and the Salesian Family Youth Center in Boyle Heights. At the Don Bosco Mission Center, about 15 student volunteers, joined by Art teacher Virginia Vilchis and Dean of Women, Finance, and Physical Education teacher Mashanda Finn, spent the day painting a fence to help beautify the center. Welcomed by Anthony Rodriguez, the group worked with enthusiasm and teamwork. The initiative reflected the Salesian spirit of education through service, encounter, and community. Supported by the Mission Center team, which provided materials and refreshments, and coordinated with the help of Dr. Rick Quintero, Salesian Cooperator, the day offered students a meaningful experience of generosity and shared mission.
