Portugal - Meeting of the Mediterranean Region

(ANS - Lisbon) - The meeting of the Mediterranean Region of the Salesian Congregation was held in Lisbon on 28 and 29 September, 2021. Convoked by the Councilor for the Mediterranean Region, Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, the Provincials and Vice Provincials of the Provinces Portugal, the two Provinces of Spain, the six Provinces of Italy, and the Middle East Province that make up this Region met.

Fr Stefano Martoglio, Vicar of the Rector Major, and Br. Jean Paul Muller, Economer General of the Salesian Congregation, also took part in these two days of meeting and animation. Both illustrated various topics relating to the life of the Congregation and the journey of the Provinces in this Salesian Region. Other coordination issues in Salesian mission and formation were also discussed.

Fr José Miguel Núñez, Director of the National Salesian Center for Youth Ministry (CNSPJ) of Spain, Fr Roberto Dal Molin, director of the National Center for Salesian Works (CNOS), and Fr Juan José Bartolomé, Regional Formation Coordinator were also present.

The day before the meeting, on the afternoon of Monday 27 September, the Iberian Conference was held, which brought together the Salesian Provinces of Spain and Portugal. The Conference of the Provinces of Italy will take place on September 30 and October 1. These are two important forums, within the Region, for the coordination and animation of Salesian life in these countries.
