India - Novitiate at Sunnyside holds Seminar on Salesian Brothers
Shillong, India - 29 July 2023 - The Novitiate community of Sunnyside organized a one-day seminar on Salesian Brothers. The openingbegan with a hymn to the Holy Spirit, prayer, and a video presentation on the Novices and the themes for the presentation. There was also a welcome speech and a word of encouragement from the Administrator. Those present at the programme were the Novice Master, Father V. T Jose, Father Prabir Minj, Father Pyndeilang, Brother Lambert and the thirty Novices. The Novices presented the seminar on themes like the term Coadjutor, the meaning of the vocation of the Salesian Brother, the Status and Specific Roles of the Lay Religious in the Church and the Congregation, Life Sketches of the First Salesian Brothers and those of their Province like Br. John Colombi, Br. Abraham Antony and the late Br. V. S Mathew, and the Documents on the Lay Consecrated Life. The seminar concluded with words of appreciation and some guidelines for future improvements by Father Minj. The Novices were very happy for having learned in depth about the lay dimension of the Salesian Society. They were also enlightened and inspired to appreciate the vocation as a gift and call from God. One of the reasons for organizing this seminar was to encourage the Novices as they intensify their discernment before they choose the specific vocation of one of the two dimensions of the same Salesian vocation.
